About

The Dark Energy Survey (DES) is a large-scale astronomical survey aimed at studying dark energy, a mysterious force that is thought to be responsible for the acceleration of the expansion of the universe. The survey uses a 570-megapixel digital camera mounted on a telescope in Chile to map hundreds of millions of galaxies and detect patterns in their distribution to understand the nature of dark energy. The data collected by the DES is used to investigate the properties and behavior of dark energy, as well as other cosmological phenomena such as dark matter and the evolution of the universe.
